JCMF Children’s Charities supports ALL water-training resources that educate children and adults on how to swim, float, and become safe in and around water. The Float for Life program developed through the partnership of the Joshua Collingsworth Memorial Foundation and the YMCA of Lincoln, NE. Together they implemented the first infant and toddler water-training courses in the city. These courses teach children 9 months to toddlers to float on their back, kick to and then grab the side of the pools edge. The Float 4 Life program has successfully expanded across the city of Lincoln as well as the entire state of Nebraska, including programs offered in McCook and North Platte. It is currently offered in Omaha at the Omaha Salvation Army KROC Center and the City of Omaha Parks and Recreation pools. The program teaches children the life skills to float on their back and reach for the side of the pools edge. To date, the program has helped over 10,000 infants and toddlers learn these life saving skills. The foundation is now outreaching to several teaching facilities with the goal to expand, support, and promote these types of programs around the country.

1.2 Million people around the world die by drowning every year, that is more than two persons per minute. (International Life Saving Federation, 2010)

Drowning is preventable. Let’s not make a tragedy necessary to alert people to consider water safety and awareness.

JCMF Children’s Charities is a qualified IRS 501 (c)(3) organization.
